Home / Sharing the Harvest Project

Welcome to Sharing the Harvest! Click on “News” and then “Garden” in the menu bar below for stories, videos, photos and recipes by Oakland teens focused on school gardens and sustainable living.

The fruits of this yearlong reporting project, we hope, will show how Oakland teens are interacting with natural world and the urban environment, as well as the connections between what grows outside in school gardens, and what grows inside the classroom as teens learn more about diet, nutrition, exercise and the role of food in health.

Our work is generously supported by a grant from the Open Circle Foundation, an Oakland-based nonprofit group that promotes links between nature and the arts. To learn more about Open Circle’s work, go to http://art4environment.org/.
