Got veggies? If so, we’d like to know … and we’d like to invite you to our “Heart of the Harvest” school garden summit, to be held next fall.
The summit will be an opportunity for Oakland public school teachers, students and community members to come together and showcase the work they’re doing in the growing field of school gardening.
We hope you’ll join us to talk about strategies for creating, sustaining and expanding school gardens, as well as connecting what students do and learn in these gardens to the academic standards that support learning in the classroom.
We’ll be organizing the summit this summer, so if you would like to volunteer your school as a location, or if you have ideas for presentations or showcases, please e-mail us at oaktownteen@gmail.com.
You can also send us your photographs or videos and we’ll post them to our website at oaktownteentimes.com. And let us know if you would like to be added to our “Share the Harvest” directory of Oakland public schools with gardening programs.
Enjoy your summer, but plan on harvesting your veggies with us come September!
