Steven Phan, a design and layout editor for the Aegis, the student newspaper of Oakland High School, produced the ad that appears below as an example of how students can work with local advertisers to create ads.
OHigh students hope to get more ads from local “green” businesses to support the school’s journalism program as well as the needs of its school garden.
“By advertising with the Aegis, green companies can reach hundreds of students who are deeply concerned about the environment,” said Lara Trale, who teaches journalism and advises the Aegis.
“These young people carry reusable water bottles, buy recycled paper, and lobby for healthy and organic options in the school cafeteria,” Trale noted. “They and their families support local businesses for many of their purchases.”
Phan created the ad using a non-working local address and number (for illustration purposes only) plus Adobe In Design and Photoshop software.
